For leaders

Coaching and therapy for leaders

Some leaders come looking for a coach, some for a therapist, and some aren't sure yet. Here's how to find the one that fits you.

Both look at the whole person, at work and at home. The difference is in what each one can do.

Executive coaching

Our CEO, Eric McClerren, coaches senior leaders, and that work has its own home at McClerren.co. Coaching can:

Work with you wherever you live

Include your boss, board, or team, with your OK, when it helps

Come to your office for a half or full day, and even sit in on your meetings

Draw on a leadership assessment

Be paid for by your company

Therapy for leaders

Our therapists see leaders in person in McLean, or virtually anywhere in Virginia. Therapy can:

Treat clinical conditions, like depression, an anxiety disorder, or the lasting effects of trauma

Use specialized approaches, like EMDR, a well-researched method for working through painful memories

Stay between you and your therapist, with the legal protections therapy carries

Be partly reimbursed through out-of-network insurance benefits

Choosing between them

The line isn't always sharp. You don't need a diagnosis to start therapy, and many people come to us without one. For a leader working through stress about work, therapy can look a lot like coaching. What usually decides it is practical: where you live, whether your company is paying or involved, and whether something clinical is part of the picture. If you're not sure, start with a free intro call here. If coaching fits better, we'll point you to McClerren.co. And when someone who reaches out for coaching needs something closer to therapy, we'll introduce them to one of our clinicians.
